Strategies for JEE Main 2023 Session 2 Based on Session 1 Insights

JEE Main is one of the most popular and highly competitive entrance exams for engineering aspirants in India. The exam is conducted twice a year, and the first session of JEE Main 2023 has already been conducted in Jan - Feb 2023.

The exam consisted of three subjects, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, each carrying equal weightage of 100 marks. The duration of the exam was three hours, and it consisted of a total of 90 questions.

Now lets see the strategies for JEE Main 2023 Session 2 based on Session 1 insights.

Subject-wise Analysis of JEE Main Session 1

  • The Chemistry paper was largely based on NCERT books and examples.

  • The majority of the numerical-based questions were from Physical Chemistry, and the remaining were from Organic and Inorganic Chemistry.

  • Questions from prominent chapters like Equilibrium, Thermodynamics, Redox reactions, Chemical bonding, and Chemical Kinetics were asked.

  • Overall coverage of the chapters was uniform. Inorganic chapters like Coordination Compounds, d-block and p-block had good weightage in the paper.

A thorough study of the NCERT books, solving NCERT examples and mock tests based on NCERT is the guarantee of success in these types of tests.

  • The Physics part was also of easy level.

  • Questions from Optics, Waves, and Modern Physics were duly represented in the paper.

  • Three questions from Modern Physics and two questions from Electromagnetic Waves were there in the paper. Other chapters were also included in due proportions.

  • There were a good number of numericals which were largely formula based.

  • According to students XII Physics had more weightage on paper. Solving a good number of mock tests would prove to be an effective strategy.

  • The Mathematics paper was moderate but slightly time taking due to the lengthy calculations involved. A few good questions were interspersed sporadically.

  • Questions were asked about Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Vectors & 3D, and Algebra. Coordinate Geometry was dominant in the paper.

  • There were two questions from Matrix and determinants, three questions from Vectors and 3D, one question from Statistics, and three questions from Continuity and Differentiability.

Almost all the topics were covered. Again practice through mock tests holds the key.

Overall Analysis

Overall, it was a balanced paper that could be solved in the stipulated time. The difficulty level-wise order, according to a large section of students, is as follows:

  1. Physics - Easy
  2. Chemistry - Moderate
  3. Mathematics - Moderate

Strategies for JEE Main 2023 Session 2

Based on the insights from Session 1, we can derive the following strategies for JEE Main 2023 Session 2:

Focus on NCERT Books: The Chemistry paper was largely based on NCERT books, and almost all the chapters were covered in the paper.

Hence, it is essential to focus on NCERT books and solve NCERT examples to prepare for the Chemistry section.

Solve Mock Tests: The Physics and Mathematics papers were relatively moderate to difficult, and most of the questions were formula-based.

At Catalyser, we recommend our students solving a good number of mock tests would be an effective strategy to prepare for both Physics and Mathematics sections.

Practice Numerical Problems: Both Physics and Chemistry papers had a good number of numerical problems.

Therefore, it is essential to practice numerical problems to improve speed and accuracy.

Prioritize Time Management: Time management is crucial during the exam. While solving the paper, try to attempt the easy questions first and then move on to the difficult ones.

The best way to manage your time while solving the paper is to start with Chemistry, then Physics, and then Mathematics.

These strategies will help you manage your time effectively and also boost your confidence.

Stay Updated: Stay updated with the latest exam pattern, syllabus, and changes made by the conducting body.

Keep an eye on the official JEE Main website for any updates or notifications.

JEE Main 2023 Session 2 requires a well-planned preparation strategy with regular revision, practice, and time management.

Analyzing the previous year's papers, working on your weak areas, practicing mock tests, and staying positive and confident are some of the key factors that will help you crack the exam with flying colors.

Best of luck for your exam!
