KVPY Exam 2019 - Application Form, Exam Dates, Syllabus
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is a national level fellowship program conducted by Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore every year. The program was started in 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The main purpose of the program is to identify talented students who have a penchant for Science and encourage them to pursue their career in research.

Application Form

KVPY 2019 Application form has been released by IISC, Bangalore in the official website. Candidates are requested to check the eligibility criteria before applying for the examination. The last date to submit the application form is 31 August 2019. There are three steps to complete the application process: Registration - Interested candidate can register their name by visiting the official KVPY website. Fill the Credentials - Candidates would need to fill in their personal and academic details. They also get an option to choose the test centres. Payment of Application Fees – Candidate must pay the application fee using a Credit Card, ATM-Debit Card or Net Banking only at the KVPY application portal. No other means of payment will be accepted.

The application fees for KVPY-2019 are as follows: General/OBC Category - Rs. 1000 (Exclusive of Bank Charges) SC/ST/PWD: Rs. 500 (Exclusive of Bank Charges)

Selection Procedure

KVPY fellowship is a two-stage selection procedure Aptitude Test - Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will be called for an aptitude test on the date of the examination i.e 03 November 2019 Interview – On the basis of the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed candidates would be called for an interview.

Eligibility Criteria

Interested candidates must be Indian Nationals. KVPY Aptitude test has three streams:
  1. SA: for candidate studying in Class 11 (Science Stream) during the academic year 2019-20 and secured a minimum of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST/PWD) aggregate in Mathematics and Science in the X Board examination are eligible to appear for the Aptitude test.
  2. SX: for students of Class 12 (Science Stream) during the academic year 2019-20 and secured a minimum of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST/PWD) aggregate in Mathematics and Science in the X Board examination are eligible to appear for the Aptitude test. The fellowship of the students selected under this stream would be activated only if the candidate joins an undergraduate program in Basic Sciences namely B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. for the session 2020–21.
  3. SB: for students pursuing a program in Basic Sciences namely B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. during the academic year 2019–20 and having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in Mathematics and Science in XII Board Examination are eligible to appear for the Aptitude test.

Examination Pattern

The exam will be conducted in online mode only in both English and Hindi language. The paper will consist of multiple-choice questions. Candidates will get 3 hours to complete the examination.

Syllabus

There is no prescribed syllabus for the aptitude test. The test is designed to analyze a candidate's understanding and analytical ability. However, candidates can study the syllabus up to class X/XII/1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. as per the selected stream.
